Dubai Itinerary for Families With Kids: What to Do and What to Book

By Lead Adventure Tour 3 min read

Dubai is easy with children when you keep the days short and the afternoons cool. This plan mixes air-conditioned stops, a beach morning and one evening in the desert, and it points out what to check for different ages.

The short answer

Plan one main activity a day, keep the middle of the day for rest, and book hotel pickup so you do not need to organise cars. A family of up to 6 can use one private car, which is often simpler and good value.

A relaxed 4-day family plan

Day 1: Marina and beach

Arrive, rest and spend the late afternoon on a beach or the Marina walk. Children can run around, and you avoid the heat. A pre-booked airport transfer with child seats on request makes arrival easier; it is private, from AED 150 per car.

Day 2: Downtown and the Dubai Mall

Morning. Visit the Dubai Mall early, when it is quiet. The aquarium is popular with children.

Evening. Watch the Dubai Fountain show, free to watch and short enough for small children.

Day 3: Desert safari

Choose the evening safari for the camp, camel ride and show. The 7-hour safari with BBQ dinner starts from AED 130 per person. For families a private car is AED 780 for up to 6 guests, so you do not share the 4x4 with strangers; see private desert safari prices per car.

Good to know:

  1. Children aged 3 and above can join with their parents.
  2. The safari is not suitable for babies under 3, pregnant women or guests with back or heart problems, because dune bashing is bumpy. Read the age limits and baby seat guide.
  3. Quad bikes: guests aged 14 and above can drive; younger children can ride as passengers.
  4. Dress in layers: warm sun, cool evening; see what to wear.

Day 4: Old Dubai and a cruise

Morning. Cross the creek on an abra boat and walk through the old district while it is cool.

Evening. Take a family dhow cruise: our two-hour dhow cruise has a buffet dinner and live Tanoura dance in a family-friendly atmosphere, from AED 85 per person.

Tips for the heat

  • Visit from November to March for the mildest weather.
  • Do outdoor sightseeing in the morning and evening.

  • Use hotel pickup so you are not waiting outside; check the pickup areas.
